Doctor Know-All is a short story by German author, Jacob Grimm which was translated into English. The story is about a traveling doctor who is skilled in diagnosing and curing all sorts of illnesses, and in the process gains a reputation as a "know-all." The main character is a cunning and crafty man, who is obsessed with money and fame and has a keen eye for business opportunities. However, towards the end of the story, he is exposed as a fraud and his reputation as a "know-all" collapses, as he is unable to deal with a patient suffering from a condition that he cannot cure. The story is a critique of the social order during the time it was written, which privileged wealth and societal rank over knowledge and expertise.
